Cathay Army Book released for Warhammer Fantasy Battles

Mathias (M4cR1II3n) from the Battle Reporter forum has just released his unofficial Warhammer Army Book based on the realm of Cathay. Like his Kislev and Araby books, it is simply superb !

Note: this is not an official army book and is not endorsed by Games Workshop.

This really is a top quality army book and worth your printer ink. It's a first draft so there are bound to be some tweaks and formatting issues but it's all there and ready for use and I suspect Mathias would love some playtesting feedback !

80 pages featuring a full background of the Empire of the Celestial Dragon, the Cathayans, their history, a timeline, map and loads of great fluff.

Here's a very quick taster to whet your appetite:-

4 Lord characters

Including the Wu Jen Lord who has mastered the arts of Yin and Yang magic and Xen Huong who can adopt the form of a Celestial Dragon.

6 Hero characters

Including the quarterstaff bearing Monkey King and Broken Sword, a virtuous "phantom" like wielder of justice in Cathay.

6 Core units

Such as Chu Ko Nu who bring 3 bolt (16", str3) repeater crossbows to the battlefield, Dragon Lancers, mounted Mangudai fast cavalry, frenzied Tribesmen and Monkey Warriors.

7 Special units

Which include amongst others; Sword Saints who inspire resolve in nearby units, skirmisher assassin-like Nightblades and Celestial Dragon Monks who are masters of the unarmed martial arts with a variety of special attacks such as the Crane or Mantis.

4 Rare units

The Fire Arrow battery, Dragon Cannon, Phoenix (a fiery flying terror) and Terracota Warriors (fear, unbreakable and immune to poison but with a tendency to fall apart, a bit like zombies)

Yin and Yang magic lores including 12 spells and over 50 magic items.

Mathias' army books really are a treat worth reading, I can recommend all of them. Each book has a it's own home on the Warhammer Battle Reporter forum. You can find them all under the projects section which also includes The Doom Seeker Magazine, and Army Book pdf links for Albion, Araby, Kislev and Nauticans.
