Magic Weapons Rules and Tactics (Bretonnia Sword of the Lady's Champion and Sword of Heroes)

A Bretonnian Army needs to try and smash through the enemy lines on their charge if possible.

This is fine against your average rank and file enemies (even with a 6 model strong lance formation)

But what do you do against enemy units with a higher toughness ? Your knights will not be able to over power them easily after turn 1 once they lose their lance bonus.

So you need to bolster your attack with some magic weaponry. The Sword of the Lady's Champion (for Grail Vow holders only) at 40 points and the Sword of Heroes 35 pts are ideal for this.

The Lady's champion sword means your hero or Lord will always wound on a 3+ against any foe with a higher toughness. This modified strength is also used to calculate armour save modifiers so it's ideal against high toughness heroes who are armoured like a tank.

The sword of heroes is similar but can be given to any hero not just a grail vow one. It's not quite as effective and not a must have like the other sword. It does however give +1 strength against enemies with T5 or above. Unsaved wounds also become D3 wounds. Good for enemies with a T5 but not effective enough against higher toughness.
