Amateur Warhammer Miniature Gallery Video

For a bit of fun and to see how this new Live Windows 7 movie maker works, I put together a compilation of Fantasy Battle miniatures from our WFB Reporter's Facebook and WFBR Forum miniatures slideshow.

The miniature/diorama photos are in a kind of alphabetic order (although a few pics that I particularly liked were pushed to the beginning). It's one second per image and a Ben Hur soudtrack - just to get the old Warhammer Battle juices flowing ;-)

Anyway, I hope you get a bit of inspiration from it, I achieved my goal of sussing out Movie Maker :)

PS. I found that WIndows 7 Live Movie Maker is very easy to use :) Note however, if you're used to the older XP version, you cannot drag the titles, captions, photos, animations etc. to increase or decrease duration, you have to actually set the duration using the text box to say how many seconds you want it displayed. Also, keep your eye on the very top menu bar so you know which context you're working in, ie. captions/titles, video or music (it can be a bit confusing to start with).

New Tomb Kings Army Video by GW

A video with magic, monsters and some Khemri background without "too much" promo.

Tomb Kings miniatures models army pics
As soon as I started watching the video I got a bit annoyed expecting it to be promotion drivel delivered by people who wouldn't give two hoots on a Khemrian Bone Horn but it turned out a lot better than I expected.

What you can expect; some nice pics, insights into the thinking behind the army background (think scarabs, scorps, vultures and way too many Sphinxes), a rare "honesty-nod" towards the time it's taken since TKs were last looked at (blink and you'll miss it !), magic normalization and general army wide thinking made it worth watching (esp if you're looking for TK colour schemes and an alternative look at the model pics)

It's 14 mins long so... suffer like me my venomous serpent worshiping undead friends ! [signed: Sigmar]

Back to winds of magic with their own lore and a Sorcerous character that, with blessings and curses, somehow mixes the lore of light with lots of death :)

So far in the desert sand, so good until the oasis (of death !)  :D   Muhahahaha

Warhammer 8th Edition Battle Reports

Fantasy Battle Reports for Warhammer 8th edition rulebook.

I set up a new site some time ago for Bat Reps for the lastest Warhammer rulebook (ie 8th edition). Well, now I have it properly up and running (and it can be viewed in all internet browsers - which it couldn't before!) I thought I'd better let everyone know.

I'm trying to pick the best battle reports I can find and I expect to be adding a couple every week (including still videos (ie. slideshows with narration / audio commentary), real time videos, battle stories and of course the traditional maps and photo battle reps. There are 20 reports on the site right now.

Warhammer Fantasy Bat Reps picture

Here are the key features of the new-ish site:-

  • A running tally of the best Warhammer armies (% wins or draws)
  • A table to let you choose the armies involved in the battle.
  • An intro before each battle which gives you an idea why I added it to the site.
  • A widget to allow you to rate each report.
  • A list of the most popular reports.
  • A link to Battle Chronicler the excellent (and free !) Battle Reporting software.
  • Links back to all my other blogs and to 190+ 7th edition battle reports.
  • Loads of links to other Warhammer fan-sites in the blogroll
  • A list of the most popular battle reports
  • Stacks of adverts for eBay Warhammer Fantasy miniatures and terrain / scenery.

Last but not least Facebook and Google Follow widgets so you can follow the blog (if you have a Google account / gmail) and join the "Warhammer Battle Reporters" Facebook group where I post all my lastest Warhammer and blog news.

I hope you like it. Please let me know what you think by posting a comment here or on the bat rep site.

PS. there's a permanent link to the 8th edition and the 7th edition site at the top of this blog under the eBay adverts (you'll see the latest battle reports count for each site). Note: 7th ed site is still being added to.

Warhammer Forge at Games Day 2010

While trying to delve into the new Chaos Dwarf miniature news I tracked down this YouTube video by Beasts of War with lots of new / work in progress miniature pictures (incl. 40k).

Marienburg Land Ship model picture
The model to the right is a Marienburg Land Ship (?!)

The video shows some of the new Warhammer Work in Progress models from Forgeworld and Warhammer Forge which, apparently, is a sub-division of Forgeworld specifically aimed at Warhammer model development. The interviewer also says he has heard rumours of Warhammer introducing titan scale units into Fantasy Battle in an Apocalypse style way. Hmmm... it's the first time I've heard that and it's quite intriguing. Now I have to find out what Apocalypse is all about to get a feel for what they're talking about !

Anyway, the video is worth a watch so I thought I'd share with you. All credit to Beasts of War.

Fantasy Battle Gaming Aids for Warhammer 8th Edition - VIDEO

Games Workshop VIDEO of Warhammer gaming aids including: extendable ruler, markers, calipers, flame and artillery templates and what looks like a combat resolution calculator.

Some nice looking WFB gadgets from GW are coming out to support the new rulebook release.

Warhammer Fantasy Battle Video Reports now on 2d6.blogspot.com

Battle Report Videos on the Warhammer Fantasy Reports Hub !

After watching a couple of decent Video battles recently I have decided to start adding some of them to the Battle Reports blog (2d6.blogspot.com). I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner really ?!

Here's a small taster of things to come...

Warriors of Chaos vs Vampire Counts Battle Report Video

The Battle Reports site will continue to concentrate on mainly written reports with maps / photos because I think you get more out of them in terms of tactics and learning the game. However, when I find a good video report (just like when I find a good narrative / story report) that I think has a lesson or 2 and is well presented, I will add it to the hub.

Warhammer Fantasy Battle video promotion / competition

We ran a very brief competition to create a promotional video for the:-
Fantasy Battle Reporter forum, here is the outcome...

Warhammer Fantasy Battle Royale now has it's own blog !

Warhammer Fantasy Battle Royale Video Blog

I thought I'd try to do my Fantasy Battle Royale videos some justice so I put them on a separate blog.

Hopefully, this will encourage me to finish off the fighting videos.

Warhammer videos on YouTube (stop motion picks, incl. LOTR and 40K and some funny ones)

Update : number (14) was added today. Turn 3 to conclusion of a Warhamer battle between Orcs and Chaos Hordes. Well made and with all painted miniatures.

(1) Space Hulk
This is awesome, something I can only aspire to with my videos. I need to update my kit, my skills and my imagination to get anywhere near this ! Top quality in every way.

Even if you're not a Space Hulk fan you should check this out, it really rocks.

(2) Dalek-Hammer - LOL !
If you have a warped sense of humour like me, this is sheer brilliance.
I loved it but if you're a serious type of gamer... don't watch ! You have been warned :)

(3) Warhammer 40,000 video
For some reason I found this video strangely compelling and watched till the end. Stick with it, it's really quite good.

(4) not to everyone's taste but I loved it
I had to laugh. It come with a philosophic ending, brilliant in it's simplicity :)

(5) LOTR castle siege video
Reasonable effort - not bad but not great. Interesting castle - I think the defenders should have stayed behind the walls though !

(6a) Ultramarine escape across the worktop ! (part I)

(6b) Ultramarine escape across the worktop ! (part II)

This is quite amusing, probably even more so for 40,000 fans...

(7) Good Warhammer 40,000 stop motion "battle" story
While looking for a few ideas and new techniques for my next round of videos I stumbled across this one which is not too bad. I have to say though that there is a lot of dross out there on YouTube !

The lasers and explosions are quite cool, a lot of work went into this one.

(8) Lord of the Rings "almost" Battle Video
He got off to a great start with a nice board, all painted figures and excellent accompanying atmospheric music but where's the battle ?!

I cannot promise all painted figures but my larger scale reports will include a battle :)

(9) A good 40k stop motion video with neat narration

(10) Amusing for it's quirkiness and innocence

(11) 40k fast and frenetic but kind of fun

(12) Snow White and the Seven Orks
Not exactly Warhammer (or even stop motion) but quite amusing nonetheless.

(13) A Warhammer Fantasy Battle dramatisation (the Castle Gate)
The first couple of turns in a warhammer battle of Orcs vs Chaos (conducted for video). All painted miniatures.

(14) A Warhammer Fantasy Battle dramatisation (the Castle Gate part II)
Turn 3 onwards in a warhammer battle of Orcs vs Chaos (conducted for video). All painted miniatures.

(14) A Warhammer Fantasy Battle dramatisation (the Castle Gate part III)
Assault on the Castle Gate (conducted for video). All painted miniatures.
(added : 7-Sep-2008)

(14) A Warhammer Fantasy Battle dramatisation (the Castle Gate part IV)
Chaos Warriors Defend their newly captured castle from the Beasts of Chaos (conducted for video). All painted miniatures.

Warhammer Battle Royale - fight 8 is now online !

Warhammer Battle Royale is back !

Thanks for being patient I hope your patience is rewarded with 2 minutes of quality...

Warhammer video entertainment.

Battle Royale fight updates

Folks,

For all those of you following the Battle Royale:-

I have found that recording, editing and uploading a fight takes me about 3 hours. I don't want to lower my "high quality production standards" ;) so I won't try to speed this up by cutting corners.

I just wanted you to know that I only expect to upload about 3 fights per week so please just check back once every 2 or 3 days.

I will keep posting other comments/articles to my blog for those who like to read them.

I will also have the new High Elves Warhammer Army book (which will remain in my toilet or bedside at all times) so I will be able to provide you with my own analysis of the changes.

Thanks for your patience.

Can you guess the outcome of Battle Royale ?

If you can name, in precise order, the positions of all the characters at the end of the Battle Royale tournament (by points scored - ie add up the wounds remaining of the winner after each fight) then enter my competition...

http://battlereporter.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?p=58#58

The competition is open until the first fight of Battle Royale round 2 is online (that's fight number 8)

Note: if 2 or more heroes have the same points then it doesn't matter which order you put them in.

Warhammer Battle Royale - the Poll (who will win)

The votes cast (by 82 people)

1) 20% Dwarf Thane
2) 18% Wardancer Noble
3) 14% Human General
4) 14% Saurus Scar Veteran
5) 13% High Elf Commander
6) 9% Savage Orc
7) 8% Goblin Warboss

Battle Royale - small correction (night goblin no more !)

Hi folks,

I have made a small error I'm sorry to say. I gave the night goblin a giant wolf to ride but have just realised that he can only infact ride a giant squig - whoops !

So, what I have done is to make him into a normal goblin (rather than a night goblin), basically it gives him +1 leadership and he no longer hates Dwarfs as night goblins do. Unfortunately this means he costs 10pts more and a few more points than any other character in the Warhammer Battle Royale.

I was going to remove/change some magic items but it doesn't seem fair to radically change him after so many people have already voted for a winner. So, I have left him the same in all regards and increased his points value - he is now a normal goblin and not a night goblin.

Apologies,
Sigmar
Legendary Saviour and Protector of the Empire :)

Battle Royale House Rules

Warhammer rules apply for the whole fight.

House Rules:-
A. One character will "charge" into the fight (see charge rule below)
B. Winner scores the same number of points as they have wounds left +1pt for winning the fight.
B. Winner scores a point per wound they inflict +1 pt for winning the fight (took effect from round 2)**
C. All characters are fully revived (or reanimated !) between fights.

21 fights (3 rounds of 7 fights). Each hero fights all 6 contestants.

the charge rule (to charge into combat)
The hero with the highest move must roll less than/equal to their "M"*
If the hero fails the roll then the opponent takes the same test.
If the opponent fails then the original hero charges.

* the night goblin wolfrider rolls 2D6 against "M" *
The charge rule is to take into account the points cost paid for the Movement attribute
(It should make for a more competitive, unpredictable outcome)

** this new points scoring rule came into effect from round 2 after a lengthy consideration and discussion of the change in the Bugman's Brewery forum.
