Ogre Bull Charge. Ogre Kingdoms Special Rules.

If there's one thing that sets Ogres apart from other Warhammer Races (other than them eating about 20 meals a day) it's their Bull Charge.

The bull charge is special and very advantageous in 2 ways.

Firstly, the bull charge acts as impact hits like a chariot. That is, before combat begins and before 'always strike first'. Could Ogres be the answer to High Elf dominance ?

Secondly, the bull charge strength can be increased by using more ranks. Each additional rank provides an additional +1 strength to the model in front. This means that a standard ogre with str 4, bull charges with a str of 5. Note that no weapon modifiers or any other modifiers can be included, you always use the basic profile strength.

There's one thing not absolutely clear in the Ogre Kingdoms Warhammer Armies book...

Does the usual front rank of 5 models apply ?

It appears not. The bull charge example specifies a frontage of 4 with subsequent ranks providing the +1 str bonus.

Note, in larger battles (where you can afford extra ranks) its worth considering taking 12 ogre bulls. The bull charge rank effect is cumulative so 2 ranks with provide all models in the front rank with +2 str (so Tyrants bull charge at str 7 and normal Ogres at str 6 ! Remember they're automatic hits !).

Enough said I think :)

Note: the bull charge causes only 1 impact hit per model irrespective of the number of attacks the front rank has.
