Savage Orcs Rules and Tactics (Orc and Goblin Army Core)

Savage Orcs hmmm... Loads of character yes and it's great when you see the enemy running away from the wild screaming brutes but well, it doesn't seem to happen that often unless they're mounted on boars.

Remember Savage Orcs are frenzied (which gives them +1 attack). Great, but only so long as they don't lose a combat round and thus their frenzied state.

They also benefit from war paint but it only gives a save of 6 so it's not a big help.

I usually deploy some of these chaps because their lust for battle appeals :) I try to make sure that they are present in numbers, you need ranks, a decent leader and a standard (and maybe even a musician). Give your leader a magic item that can help in the combat resolution either to reduce your loses or increase kills.

One last thing, hide them behind other units to protect them from missiles and make sure they are the ones who charge into combat !
