Warhammer Battle Evolution

I have been involved with Warhammer right from the start. I had a few years out around the 6th edition which I didn't play that much because I was fully consumed in PC and console gaming. One day I realised that the real fun lay in the tabletop war gaming against real people (!) and it really was worth the effort unlike some pc games which left me feeling a bit empty. My passion for Warhammer was reawakened.

I remember feeling cheated after edition 4 was superseded. GW seemed to have 'dumbed down' the game an taken away too much of the tactical experience. My next shock was to find how ridiculously powerful the characters had become. Many, especially Dwarfs, were untouchable by enemy rank and file (toughness 10) an no way of killing them except my using monsters or rare magic.

Thankfully, edition 7 has put to rest of of my concerns. I have only played a few games under the 7 rules but they've all been most enjoyable with never a dull moment. Some games under edition 4 lasted 30 turns ! Some units just didn't route and seemed endowed with god like stamina.

So this is really a big thankyou to Games Workshop. I now think the game is better than ever and the army books alone are materpieces in imagination.

Thanks and Merry Christmas GW.
