Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning vs World of Warcraft vs other MMORPG Games

I know these MMORP games are extemely popular. Their forums alone vastly outnumber the online presence of the traditional Warhammer hobbyist community.

I was contemplating becoming an active online player myself and wanted some idea of how representative Warhammer Online is of the Fantasy Battle world or WHFRP. Also, how many people who battle regularly with miniature armies also play online roleplaying games ?

Am I likely to enjoy the experience or are the characters, lords and heroes too far removed from tabletop gaming ?

I have another online gaming question... hopefully you can answer it. Is there an online tactical or strategic battle game similar to Warhammer ? I loved the old Warhammer Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen but it was only 1 player. I wondered if there was a multiplayer version or if anyone had modified maybe Rome or Medieval Total War ?
