Magic Items of the Warhammer Fantasy Ogre Kingdoms (Magic Weapons)

Ogres are not that 'big' when it comes to magic items. They have 30 in comparison with the whopping 56 available to High Elves.

There is a good mix of items. The weapons, as you might expect, are quite brutal. There are a few subtleties though and there are some items that benefit you over Lizardmen, Dwarfs, Chaos and Skaven.

Ok, let's kick this off with Magic Weapons. There are 5 of them, the are all worth having and all relatively cost effective in points.

The pick of the bunch must be the Thundermace and, if fighting low initiative enemies like Dwarfs or Lizardmen, the Siegebreaker.

The Thundermace

...uses the small template and hits are resolved as though the enemy was struck by a standard stone thrower ! So, no armour saces - ouch

The Siegebreaker

...is a 2 handed great weapon giving not 2 but +3 strength. Rather than rolling to hit against the enemy's Weapon Skill you use his initiative (that's why it's so good against Dwarfs and Lizardmen and some larger creatures).

The Thundermace costs 55 pts and the Siegebreaker costs 30 pts.

They are very cool weapons to take into battle.

Note: a general point on magic weapons and armour for Ogre Kingdoms. All of the armour and weapons are good value in comparison with other races in the Warhammer World. Given this, when designing an Ogre Army I would be inclined to make as much use as possible of magic weapons, armour and Ogre Big Names (see my earlier post for details)
