Warhammer Battle Reports 7th / 8thNauticans / Design Fantasy Gallery

Warhammer Fantasy Army - Enemies

I've added a new section to Sigmar's Warhammer Fantasy Battles ArmiesVs page - Battle Count

The new section shows which armies most regularly face each other on the Fantasy battlefield*.

* The data all comes from the battles added by WFBattles.com members and can be filtered by all battles / tournament / friendly and by those supported by a full battle report link or extensive batrep notes (over 1,000 characters).

The numbers provide a few insights into the data being used across the rest of the site and highlights the intensity of the army match ups. Those battles which occur on average 2 times more than you would expect (based on total battles recorded) are rated as "Total War", 1.4 times are rated "Carnage" and 1.2 times are rated "Onslaught".

Currently, Dwarfs vs Warriors of Chaos and High Elves vs Warriors of Chaos are the most common tabletop scraps. Beastmen and Tomb Kings are used the least vs most enemies.

The new matrix also shows the distribution of battle reporters, some armies are a lot better supported by battle reports. Note that if the battle reporter is a particularly good (or under-performing) this could skew the overall numbers, especially with tournaments which are reported a lot less than friendlies (594 battles and 1365 battles respectively).

Hopefully, as we get more members and batreps into the database the numbers will get more and more accurate.

I've said this many times but here I go again... Please feel free to join and contribute to our community database, it's FREE and there are no catches and it's great for keeping a track of your battles !

WFB Best Armies vs Each Other

Images used with respective owner's very kind permission. The Tomb Kings Casket of Souls was painted by MiniMonsters.eu, which also supplies some great fantasy tabletop scenery and Myles David of LilLegends painted the Gyrobomber, Myles miniatures has even been featured on GW's official blog no less ! Both painters are great pros, really friendly and available for commission work.

Warhammer Fantasy Battles Update - Professional Mercenaries & Fun Foes

The Battlefields page now includes a section named Professional Mercenaries & Fun Foes

The new section found in the last accordion pane shows which member armies had the most fun and demonstrated the most skill* in defeating or drawing with their enemies.

The list is ordered in descending order so the 1st Army (currently Ogres) had the most fun and was the most skillful of all the armies. The enemy is the army which the members showed most skill and had most fun against (eg. Ogres had the most fun and showed the most skill against High Elves).
    * Skill is defined as requiring the least luck
** Skill and Fun are added together and share equal weighting to determine the order
I added the section for a bit of fun and to get my coding brain working again. You might find it useful in choosing which armies collect and which to battle against if you have the option of different opponents.

Please feel free to post any comments or suggestions in the WFBattles.com forum thread.

Warhammer Tournament Rankings now on WFBattles.com

Sigmar's Warhammer Fantasy Battles - member's roster rankings now includes a tournament / friendly / all games filter

I'm pleased to report that I think I will now be able to find some time to get back to development work on www.WFBattles.com.

It's been a few weeks so I thought I'd start with a couple of easy enhancements. First up is a filter for members to view their win % rank for all games (the default) or by friendly or tournament (see the green ellipse in the image below).

You can continue to see all battles or filter out those without batrep links or extensive notes and don't forget to use the "Show member's profile..." and "Show army stats..." to check out individual members and their performance by army.

As before, members without a win or with a 100% win record are not ranked.

PS. I'll be sprucing the site up with some cool new miniature pics over the next few days.

New 8th Ed Dwarfs Warhammer Fantasy

Just in case you missed the news, because Dwarfs are easily overlooked ;-), the stunties are back with an 8th edition WFB army book update !

It's been a long wait but then Dwarfs are fairly patient folk - which is just as well because I think it's been 9 years! Games Workshop were probably worried about all the grudges that were building up and in the interests of avoiding an axe through their corporate helmet they have decided to release a new Dwarf army book and a few new miniatures.

Going with their big is better theme of recent years, the Dwarfs are now getting Gyrobombers which deploy bouncing bombs no less and a new Gyrocopter model. There's a new character Grimm Burloksson and a new Runelord too.

Presumably, if GW follow recent practice, there will also be a second wave of models coming to ensure you can spread your purchases over more than one pay day - gulp! (edit: these are the second wave of models, I missed the first lot because I wasn't paying attention - they can all now be found on the GW website) The miniatures and book are on pre-order now so, presumably, will be on the shelves in 2 or 3 weeks.
