Is there room for another army type ? If so, what should it be ?

I think GW has made great strides introducing new armies over the last few years but, personally, I think there's room for more or maybe a new angle.

in the very early days of WFB there use to be racial alignments. They were abandoned when army lists came into being. The alignments used to be used for ensuring that a fundamentally good or evil army could not employ units of an opposite type.

I think there is room for some army list imaginitive thinking here...

The dogs of war list was really just used to promote sales of some great figure designs. I think it's time for alliance based lists which adopt an alignment as the central theme.

A good alliance, evil alliance, order alliance, chaos alliance and neutral alliance.

They could be used for larger scale battles and campaigns to negate racial advantages/disadvantages and put the result of a battle more down to tatical skill than racial profiles.

I hear too often on the forums that certain races (notably Dwarfs and Vampire Counts) are more powerful than other races. An alliance system for campaigns and large scale battles would negate this.

What I'd like to hear, is what you guys think. Am I going over useless old territory or do you see something interesting in the idea ?

Thank you for any comments you respond with,
Sigmar
