There are some superb Dwarven runic items and particularly armour rune items that create cumulative benefits when combined
Runic items are notoriously cheap in points cost (notorious if you're fighting a dwarf army or awesome if you command a Dwarven army)Here are just a few of the combinations:-
For Defensive use
Master Rune of Adamant +1 toughness (for Lords) or Fortitude +1 wound (for Heroes)
+ rune of shielding (2+ ward against first wound) + rune of resistance (re-roll any failed armour saving throws)
or against lower strength opponents and those without great weapons, try:-
Master Rune Of Gromril (1+ Armour save)
+ rune of Resistance + rune of shielding
For Attacking Use
Master Rune of Steel (all hits greater than str 5 equal str 5 hits)
+ rune of preservation (against Elves, Lizardmen and any army with poison or a lot of Killing Blow troops / caharacters) + rune of resistance
