White Dwarf June '09 UK (WD 354) Contents Review
A good White Dwarf for Warhammer Fantasy Battle fans
Games Workshop have put together a very Empire Army oriented White Dwarf for June's issue. It actually feels like a new army book is coming out which is not the case ! However, the new models are very cool indeed and the Uniforms and Heraldry book looks like it might be quite good.
Note to self: buying a book on heraldry sounds like an extremely geekish thing to to do so either; ask for a brown paper bag or let your friend buy it and borrow it when you need some painting tips ;)
There are some 40k & LOTR articles as you'll see below:-
Warhammer Fantasy Battle related articles
(new, released on June 6th: Steam Tank, Plastic Empire Greatswords, Elector Count Marius Leitdorf, Empire Archers, Empire Captain with sword and Empire Captain with Hammer & pistol)
(released 20th June)
(part of a series from Richard Williams followed by "Iron Company" about Imperial Engineers and "Call to Arms" about the exploits of a regiment of Swordsmen)
Warhammer 40,000 related articles
Lord of the Rings and War of the Rings
Other White Dwarf stuff
(Imperial Guard city fighting strategy, Guide to painting horses, More Empire campaign scenarios, Steam Tank assembly instructions and painting guide)
new Empire Metal Miniature pictures (White Dwarf 354 June 2009 UK Preview)
The June 09 White Dwarf landed on my mat this morning... thanks Games Workshop
I'll be writing a contents review here in a day or two but for the meantime, here are some pics of some of the new Empire miniatures, Elector Count Marius Leitdorf and two foot Captains with sword and shield and hammer and pistol (being released on June 6th)Click to greatly enlarge the photos in finer detail...
Steam Tank Frame Sprue detail (from White Dwarf 354 June 2009 - UK)
I thought some of you keen Empire Artisans and Engineers might like to see what you need to do if a Steam Tank ever requires a refit in the Workshop :)
Here are all the bits...(click to greatly enlarge in a new window - picture does now enlarge apologies to earlier visitors)
(apologies for the poor image quality, it was the best I could do with the camera to hand)

another Fantasy Battle Reporting tour de force
Padre certainly knows how to bring a Warhammer Battle to life...
His Battle Stories (you sometimes forget these are just tabletop encounters !) are becoming Legendary. He recently posted another epic and I've added it to the Battle Reports hub:-Dogs of War vs Ogre Kingdoms 4000pts Battle Report (thanks for sharing Padre)
By the way, there are now almost 150 battle reports on the hub and we've almost covered all the army vs army combinations (but not quite).
Nautican Warhammer Fantasy Army - Draft 3.1
Minor rule changes to Special Units, Guardian of Time & Magic Items
I didn't want to change the army after draft 3.0 but I found loads of little things I wasn't happy with. Mainly the text and rules explanations which have been simplified. Also, a few minor rule changes (see the change summary on the Nautican site).I am working on the pdf now (once the pdf is online the rules will not be changing until we have plenty of feedback and battle reports from you ! Hopefully....?)
Below is some of the fantastic new artwork that Gareth Pannan sent me (I've added it to the site already and it will all feature in the final pdf). Thanks Gareth.

New Battle Chronicler (a reporting tool for all wargame battles)
Tom, from Battle Chronicler alerted me to his new Battle Reporting Tool.
The presentation is very professional. It is customisable and can be used for all sorts of wargame reports, it's free to use and there don't appear to be any catches (as far as I can tell so far). There is also a support / suggestions forum.I haven't tried it out yet (I'm still too busy updating my Nautican army) but once I do, I'll post a full review.

Warhammer Battle Reporter's Custom Search
The Fantasy Battle Reporter Custom Search has been updated to only search the Battle Reporter Blog, Forum and Battle Reports Hub.
It had become obvious from people's searches that they were not finding what they were looking for on this site, even though their search queries were relevant.
If you don't find what you're looking for the results pane gives you the option of searching the whole web.
The search box is located at the top right of this page.

We welcome all comments and suggestions, if you'd like to get involved with this project or just leave your comments then please join the:-battle reporter forum
PS. We could really use some playtesters if you're interested ?

new Warhammer Empire Miniatures on Games Workshop Advance Order
Wheyhey - new miniatures for The Empire army in the Battalion Box
The boxed set has got the new Greatswords in it. For a moment I thought the handgunners were new too but they're not, it's just I have the old knackered variety in my army :(
What worries me is the number of new steam tanks we'll be seeing around the Warhammer battle fields. Or even two Steam Tank armies !
Out on the 20th June 09, all Empire Advance Orders
click to enlarge images in a new window
There are quite a few new Empire Models out for advance order including, of course, the steam tank and a very nice Empire Captain...

Warhammer Fantasy Battle Scenery - Temple of Skulls
a new Fantasy terrain feature for Warhammer Battle from Games Workshop
Available on advance order now: Temple of SkullsIt's shown with a Champion of Chaos (spit) which seems fairly fitting. I reckon it would work well with Daemons, Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings armies too.

The skulls look like they come from super-big giants to me (extra-large target +2 to hit ?)

Warhammer Battle Reports Hub - News / Solution ?
Problems loading the Warhammer Fantasy Battles hub ?
For some reason I could not load the battle reports site this evening on Internet Explorer, it was ok on Firefox (the error message was something like "Page is unavailable").Anyway, I deleted my Internet Explorer Cache (Tools > Delete Browsing History > Delete All) and that seemed to sort it out.
It might just be a problem with my pc but I thought I'd better mention it, just in case it might help someone.

new Khorne Daemons of Chaos Prince & Herald miniatures from Forge World
Check out the awesome 3D 360 degree rotating view . I wish all miniature companies presented all their new models like that !

Khorne Daemon Prince and Herald
Designed by Simon Egan and Will Hayes, the Daemon Prince model stands 3 ¾ inches (9 ½ CM) tall. This brutal beast would be perfectly usable as a Daemon Prince or Greater Daemon either for Warhammer Fantasy Battle or Warhammer 40,000, as can the Herald which is a characterful and (not to mention gore-splattered) large and armoured Bloodletter in form and can be seen Here:-
for more pics:- forgeworld.co.uk/khornedpandh.htm
The Khorne Daemon Prince and Herald is available to pre-order now for release from 26th of May.

Nautican Warhammer Fantasy Army List
Loads of updates over the past few days, new character "mounts" (if you can call them that !), new magic items, tripoon battery unit added and lots of tweaks.
Thanks for being patient everyone, I only have 1 special character left to add and then it's fully updated to draft 3.0 and ready for playtesting.I have new artwork and fluff coming soon but it will not affect the rules. Please try the army out in battle and let me know how it goes in the Battle Reporter forum.

Tabletop Geeks make great Gaming Boards !
follow the tabletop geeks gaming board project for an 8'x4' fold away battlefield on wheels ! A fantasy home-made DIY job.
Ths is one sturdy looking board. Svenn and Tewfik have assembled it for Mordheim but no reason why you can't do the same for Warhammer. It's even got a table lip to stop the dice and the fleeing troops from falling off the edge :D
Their blog follows the whole of the table making process (you can pretty much tell what they're up to in the photos). They've finished the board and have just started working on the modular terrain. Add them to your feed reader or bookmarks - I have.
